HARRISON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY SHOWCASES HERITAGE, WEST VIRGINIA WRITERS AND WORKERS
The Harrison County Historical Society will present the third of this year’s Harrison History Speaks programs on September 27th.
History, heritage, West Virginia writers and workers will all be part of the event when Harrison County Historical Society partners with the historic Quiet Dell School House, the West Virginia Heritage Craft CoOp and The CCC Museum to demonstrate and share the talents of some of our contemporary authors and the West Virginia Writers, Inc..
The Quiet Dell School House Co-Op will open at 10 AM to showcase area authors on hand to discuss their books and writing. A special featured duo of writers, Daleen Berry and Geoff Fuller will be there to discuss their current best seller, Pretty Little Killers, an account of a recent area murder much in the national news.
Other authors on hand will include Robert Yoho, Charlene Snead, and Michael Knost. They will discuss their writing process, and sign their books. Their use of varied subject matter includes western, Christian romance, poetry, scary stories and History.
At 2 PM Phyllis Wilson Moore will present a discussion and power point presentation of our area’s history of writers. Among others, Moore is sure to include Harrison County’s Davis Grubb, whose 1950s novel was made into a movie, The Night Of The Hunter, featuring Robert Mitchum as a preacher murderer who embodied a sort of grotesque side of rural West Virginia in the 1920s. West Virginia has encouraged many writers to incorporate our culture into their stories; some well known, some yet to be discovered.
