Rebuild of Bridgeport McDonald's On Hold
By Julie Perine on May 13, 2013
At a preconstruction meeting held last week, it was first determined that groundbreaking would be moved from early-June to the third week of the month. But ultimately, the project has been put on hold for possibly months, said McDonald’s Marketing Director Lisa Cook.
Though details are taking longer to iron out than originally anticipated, Cook will be visiting local schools soon to talk to students about how they can keep a watchful eye on the rebuild progress once it gets off the ground.
The “Watch Us Grow” program will involve the distribution of seed packets to students so they can combine a horticulture experience with the building of the new restaurant icon.
Before demolition of the old store occurs, a “going away” party is planned. Details will be forthcoming.
The Bridgeport McDonald’s joins thousands of others across the U.S. in the restaurant upgrade, which features a casual, yet cutting-edge look with flat-screen TVs available for dining-time viewing. Also universal is the dual-point drive-thru and an indoor dual-point ordering system. All McDonald play lands are also being removed.
As for interior design, there are a number of packages available to franchise owners. John Ebert, owner of 11 McDonald’s in the Mountain State and five in Maryland, has chosen a design featuring circular graphics in hues of browns and purples for the Bridgeport store.
Connect-Bridgeport will continue to report on the rebuild project. For now, the restaurant – located on West Main Street/Rt. 50 – will continue its regular operations.
