Bridgeport High School Sweethearts Create Online Bakery with Extensive Product and Flavor Options

By Julie Perine on July 21, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Less than two years after cutting their own wedding cake, Brandon and Ali LeRoy are creating custom cakes and cookies for the special occasions of others.

“We produce almost any kind of baked good product, focusing mainly on custom cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes, custom decorated sugar cookies, cheesecakes and more,” Brandon LeRoy said.  “Everything that we produce is made from scratch from our very own recipes.”
In addition to a completely made-from-scratch menu of confections with extensive flavor options, a unique feature of LeRoy’s Bakery is its storefront address.

“It’s an online home bakery,” Brandon said.  “Since announcing the launch of our business, we have been packed with orders from all over – including Pittsburgh to Charleston.”

Brandon and Ali – each who hold fulltime jobs – have already received orders for special events stretching all the way to the fall of 2020.
The whole idea came about after the couple received a KitchenAid mixer as a housewarming gift.

“We decided to try and make cupcakes from scratch, people tasted them, and we posted a picture on Facebook,” Brandon said. “Then, things just took off.”

The LeRoys spent countless hours teaching themselves the art of baking.

“It has been a great bonding experience for both of us and something that we consider a method of relaxation and family time together in the evenings,” Brandon said.

The couple worked and experimented, perfecting their made-from-scratch recipes for cakes, icings and fillings. They also developed and continue to create new flavors and combinations. In addition to basic flavors: vanilla, chocolate, marble, red velvet, peanut butter almond and carrot, there are several dozen flavor options, categorized into candy, pie, cookie, succulent, fruit, holiday and seasonal flavors. Customers love the vast flavor options – from frosted animal cracker to banana cream pie, strawberry mimosa, Mississippi mud and bourbon spice toffee. Designs range from whimsical dinosaurs and unicorns to elaborate and classic creations.

The LeRoys are 2011 graduates of Bridgeport High School. LeRoy is a former BHS Marching Band drum major. Ali (Devono) was the 2010 BHS Homecoming queen. They began dating their freshman year at BHS.

Brandon is a structural engineer for AECOM in Morgantown, as well as a vocalist who plays local events including the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival and Bridgeport Light Up Night. Ali is a registered nurse at WVU Medicine Children’s.

“It’s crazy to look back through our lives the last 10-plus years … going to WVU together to continue our education, getting married and building a house in Morgantown together in 2017 and now we have our own little bakery,” Brandon said. “We have taken great pride in our state and our hometown of Bridgeport and are excited to be able to express that even further with our family and friends by pursuing our motto to ‘make your celebrations a little extra special’ through the art of baking!”
