Topps Issues First Harrison Musgrave Rookie Card

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 26, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

It was official earlier this year. Now, it’s “officially official” for those who remember baseball days from their youth.

Bridgeport High School alum and former West Virginia University standout Harrison Musgrave was called up from his Class AAA program to be a relief pitcher for the Colorado Rockies in late April. It marked the first time in four decades a Harrison County high school player had made it to the big leagues.

While he’s pitched for the Rockies since that time, another rite of passage recently took place that solidifies an individual has made it to Major League baseball. Musgrave officially has his rookie card out. And it’s not part of a promotional gimmick by the Rockies or something back home.

Instead, Musgrave has had his card issued by Topps, considered the premier card in the business. He’s part of the 2018 Topps Heritage High Number baseball card series that can be found at retailers that distribute baseball cards.

Musgrave is middle reliever for the Rockies. He has pitched 41.1 innings and given up 22 hits and 22 runs – all earned. He’s struck out 30 and walked 20 and had  a 4.79 earned run average and has a record of 2 wins and 3 losses.

The 2010 Bridgeport High School graduate and Nutter Fort native has been working himself back into shape after going on to the disabled listed earlier this year. He went on the DL in July with a right hip flexor strain.
