Ernie Brown Jr., aka the “Turtle Man,” of the hit television show Call of the Wildman on Animal Planet will visit the Harrison County Recreation Complex this Tuesday, March 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a meet and greet session.

 

“This will be the second time that “Turtle Man” has visited the facility,” remarked Deputy Director Doug Comer. “And he does not stray too far from his personality on TV either.  We had a field day scheduled with one of the county schools and he popped in and wanted to jump in and talk to the kids about a couple prehistoric turtles we had on property. It was a real pleasure having him here.”

 

For those who are not familiar with Brown’s success, the Kentuckian started on a local hunting and fishing show in 2006 and after a few hits from YouTube he went “viral” as they say in the business.

 

Television’s Animal Planet caught wind of Brown and signed him for a season of catching nuisance animals from skunks to snakes. In fact, his episode of “Baby Momma Drama” in the second season of 2012, hit a record high 1.6 million viewers. He had a four season career with the channel.

 

“This guy is so down to earth and very approachable to the public,” says Comer. “He honestly wants to talk to anyone about what he does and, at the same time, wants to know a little about you. The ‘where ya from’ and the ‘how ya doin’ kind of comments you will get from him and the way he is around kids is a treat. Many know him from TV and now they are in awe seeing him in the flesh.”

 

Presently, you can find the Turtle Man on his YouTube channel “Live Action” as he and his local friends continue to promote the program similar to his career with Animal Planet. He still goes on turtle hunts in the local mud lakes but he goes beyond that as he finds frogs, snakes and more.

 

Again, the Turtle Man will be visiting the local facility this Tuesday and plans to be available for photo opportunities, story-telling or just to say hello.
