On the morning after BHS prom, three students joined Starving Artist’s Jenny Reed at the Harrison County Humane Society to transform a plain wall into a welcoming work of art.  In just three hours, the group representing BHS Key Club painted a mural reflecting their love of animals in an effort to raise awareness of the important role the Humane Society plays in our community.

“Volunteering can take on many forms at the Humane Society.  Some volunteers take the dogs on walks, others collect donations and still others play with the cats or help with cleaning,” said Director Frankie Dennison.  “When the Key Club approached us with the idea of a mural, we were thrilled and it turned out beautifully.”

Alden Smith, Carlie Crayton, and Hannah Povroznik helped design the mural as part of a community service project for BHS Key Club.

“We love it when the Key Clubbers take the initiative to come up with creative community service projects,” said advisor Charlene Keener. “Now the Humane Society will have a permanent reminder of how much we support their efforts and we couldn’t be more proud of the students involved.”
