BUMC's Children's Choir Performs "Its Cool In The Furnace" This Weekend

Some Biblical visitors will be coming to the stage at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church this weekend. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego will join King Nebuchadnessar in a presentation of epic proportions. The Children’s Choir has put three months of hard work into replicating the battle and setting it to music in “It’s Cool In The Furnace.”
The main theme of the musical is how the boys trusted God and stood up for what’s right. Done in an unconventional way, Steve Musgrave’s character, King Nebuchandnessar, carries teddy bears around and the music performed has a distinct beatnik style. A big furnace was designed by 89-year-old Clyde Strother and has flames and lights to enhance the experience.
Performances are Saturday and Sunday at 7:00pm at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. Sarah Carr Parsons and Amy Allen coordinated and directed the performance, which showcases local talent in the most adorable way.
Thanks for the great article! All the kudos go to Sarah Carr Parsons, Jenny Lawson and their crew of helpers working with the kids. I'm just a parent who appreciates all their work. Tonight's show was exceptional and I would encourage anyone interested to come tomorrow night.
