All of the talent, none of the drama. That’s what people can expect from “Bridgeport’s Got Talent," a talent show scheduled to take place 7 p.m. today at Bridgeport High School. The show, hosted by BHS DECA, will showcase the talents of 20 performers, ranging from singing to dancing to comedy and more.
This is the first year that the BHS Talent Show has been offered to the public in an evening event and the students are expecting a huge turnout. “Auditions have been taking place all week and we are really seeing a lot of talented individuals,” said event organizer May Dang.
While there will be no Simon Cowell stirring things up during the judging, there will be a new twist on how the winner is determined. “This year, 25% of the judging will be done through donations for the individuals in the lobby,” said Dang. The other 75% will be based on the judge’s assessment of the performances. A $100 prize will be given to the overall winner of “Bridgeport’s Got Talent”.
Audiences will also be treated to the musical talents of Logan Davis during the intermission. Davis, a BHS student, is well known for his eclectic DJ mixes. As a teen entrepreneur, Davis is dedicated to customizing mixes to meet his client’s style and he is an excellent example of just how much talent the school has.
Tickets for “Bridgeport’s Got Talent” are available by contacting the DECA club through bridgeportdeca@gmail.com. Tickets are $5 before the show and $7 at the door. Concessions will be available during intermission.
Funds raised from the event will send six students to the DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in May. DECA is an international student organization for students in marketing, finance, and management and focuses on community service, leadership and career preparation.
