PROVIDED BY WVU ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT:

Morgantown - Folk legends Stephen Stills and Judy Collins are touring together for the first time ever and they are stopping at the WVU Creative Arts Center for one night only Oct. 4. This concert is part of the University Arts Series presented by University Toyota. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-7469 and 800-745-3000.

Stephen Stills, two-time Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee, multi-instrumentalist and composer, met the Grammy Award-winning Collins 50 years ago when both were up-and-coming singer songwriters. The two began a tumultuous love affair that would inspire Stills to write the iconic “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” which became one of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s most memorable hits.

Stills, known for his work with Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Buffalo Springfield, is ranked No. 28 in Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” “For What it’s Worth,” “Love the One You’re With” and, of course, “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” are Stills’ most popular hits.

Celebrated folk singer Judy Collins is recognized for her eclectic palette as a solo artist, merging folk, rock, classical and jazz into her music. She earned a Grammy for Best Folk Performance for “Both Sides Now” in 1968 and has another five Grammy nominations to her credit.

The CAC concert will feature music from both artists’ rich catalogs as well as songs from their debut joint album “Stills and Collins,” due for release later this month. The two will also share warm and intimate stories from their journeys.

Rolling Stone calls the first single from the duet album – a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows” – “a moody tribute … with purring organ chords and a jazzy drum groove.”

“Their songs are generally imbued with a fair degree of earnestness and taken at face value,” praises NPR Music. “It’s part of what has helped them communicate so powerfully to so many people throughout the decades.”

Tickets for the concert at the Creative Arts Center start at $59 for the general public and at $29 for WVU Students. Tickets are on sale at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-SHOW (7469) and 800-745-3000. WVU Student discounted tickets are limited to one per valid WVU Student ID or offer code. Discounted rates for groups of 20 or more are available by calling 304-293-SHOW (7469).
