Time Travel: BHS Football Team's 1960 Squad and the Official End of the Adamston Flat Glass Plant
By Dick Duez on November 27, 2016
This photo shows the 1960 Bridgeport High School football team coached by Don Vincent. See who many players you remember from the squad and feel free to add any memories you may have about this team in the comment section below.
Among the last remnants on the site that was home to the Adamston Flat Glass Plant in Clarksburg was this tower that was demolished several years ago. Today, the site is home to a Shop 'n Save plaza similar to the one located on Main Street in Bridgeport. This photo is from Terry Bell on Facebook.
Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
BHS on the hill, when grades 7-12 were together. Experts say do not have 7-12 together. All I remember was the upper class watched over us and were very good to the younger students. My heroes in those days were the first state champion football team who beat Webster Springs in the 1955 Class A championship game.
Our 1960 class did not have a great won lost record, but a super group of friends who to this day, many keep in touch with each other. A few went into the service, some to college, others straight to work. Some have passed away. Don Bramer, Ralph Dunn, Roger McDaniel , Charlie Elder and most likely a few others.
Good memories from many years ago. Hugh Gainer class of 1960
