Bridgeport High School inducted 30 juniors into the National Honor Society on April 27. The ceremony was two-fold, with the senior members receiving their honor stoles and tassels. In keeping with the traditions, candles were lit to represent the core values of NHS, which include scholarship, character, service and leadership.

They must have a 3.7 GPA, take part in a minimum of five service projects and complete a candidate form to be reviewed by the Faculty Council. This year, members participated in several service projects. NHS is a student-run organization and students do all of the planning and implementing of service projects throughout the year. In addition to their commitment to service, they also focus on maintaining high academic standards, demonstrating good character and becoming strong leaders. Faculty Council members are Anita Byrd, John Cole, Charlene Keener, Dave Marshall and Jennifer Sprouse. Advisor Roberta Sinsel is ex-officio member. All memberships are reviewed by BHS Principal Mark DeFazio.
