Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker Warns of Rampant Telephone Scam
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 11, 2018
FROM BRIDGEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT, CHIEF JOHN WALKER:
The Bridgeport Police Department has received numerous complaints over the past 24 hours from residents receiving phone calls from someone identifying themselves as IRS representatives. The caller is stating the person owes money for taxes and there are warrants out for their arrest. The caller further advises the person to return their phone call immediately or the warrants will be served, and they will go to jail.
This is a SCAM. Please do not call this number back. Members of the IRS would not contact you by phone and demand payment.
