Everyone’s favorite regal blue tang is the star of Friday’s Float Night at Bridgeport Pool. “Finding Dory” – the Disney Pixar movie about a friendly, but forgettable little fish who gets separated from her parents – will be shown poolside Friday night.

Residents are invited to bring their flotation devices and enjoy the flick, to be shown on the city’s big screen which will be set up at the city pool. The inflatable 16-by-20-foot screen is the same one used at Bridgeport City Park for the annual Movie in the Park, typically held at the onset of the summer season.

Movies in the park are always a great draw too, but there is one added attraction to float night.
“The one thing unique and different about this is that during the movie, there’s a certain area of the pool where kids and family members can be out on the pool on a floating device,” said Deputy Parks and Recreation Director Joe Shuttleworth. “The kids seem to really enjoy the fact they are watching from the pool.”

Since the showing of “Jaws” several years ago, the events – which have been referred to as dive-in movies and float nights – have been popular.

The pool with open at 7 p.m. with the movie projected to start around 9 p.m. Regular Family Night pool rates apply. Admission is $3 for adults and children.

“We like these types of free, family-oriented programs that bring people out to enjoy themselves with their friends and neighbors,” Shuttleworth said. “They represent the small town sense of community that we are all about.”

Released in 2016, “Finding Dory” is a spinoff to “Finding Nemo.” As Dory grows up and continues to searches for her parents, lessons about the importance of family emerge. The movie, rated PG, features the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Sigourney Weaver and Diane Keaton, among many other stars.
