In celebration of National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital's 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Run will be Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at 5:15 p.m. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate and wear their "ugliest Christmas sweaters."

Organizers will light the course up the best they can, but headlamps, glow sticks and other race appropriate lighting is encouraged.

Organizers say substance abuseis a growing epidemic in our area and one way to help combat the problem is recognizing and offering solutions. Race proceeds will help grow the Adolescent Substance Abuse Programming and Outreach Education Campaign at Highland-Clarksburg Hospital.

There will also be a Kids K for children age 10 and under. The Kids K is free, but registration is required. Participants of the Kids K will receive a participation trophy.

Race location is Veterans Memorial Park Fitness Trail on West Virginia Route 98, Clarksburg. The run will begin and end at that location. Race day packet pick-up and registration will be held at the Freedom Pavilion at Veterans Memorial Park. Registration starts at 4 p.m. with race time at 5:15 p.m. and Kids K at 6 p.m. Race day registration is $30. Prizes will be awarded to fastest overall, as well as first, second and third place, male and female in each age group. The participant wearing the ugliest sweater will also win a prize.
