Veteran Organization, Welcome Home WV, Hosts Shootout Fundraiser; Seeking Sponsorship

By Trina Runner on February 26, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Operation Welcome Home has an ambitious goal.  Based in Morgantown, they seek to be one of America’s best communities for veterans.  It was that dedication that first got Bridgeport’s Sharon Boyce-Werdebaugh interested in helping the organization.

“I have such a passion for our Veterans and what they do to keep our country safe,” said  Boyce-Werdebaugh.  “They have such a struggle when they try to reintegrate into civilian life and have to look for a job, especially in West Virginia.”

The organization, which is run by a disabled veteran, links with community resources to provide basic job skills training, work opportunities, and community reintegration.  The facility, located on Mylan Park Lane, creates an atmosphere where veterans can have a common meeting ground in which to share their experiences.  Rehabilitation services such as mentorships, counseling and employment services are all based on-site.

Scott Werdebaugh has been a member of the Operation Welcome Home Spring Fundraising Committee since 2012. He has donated time and resources to provide job readiness training and placement for veterans and their families and continues to be committed to raising awareness of this organization.

It is through donations, fundraising events and naming opportunities that such a place is able to exist.  On April 7, the organization will be teaming up with Defense in Depth to sponsor The Morgantown Shootout, a unique opportunity to shoot firearms valued at over $22,000.

“We are currently seeking sponsors for the event so we can include them in the promotional materials and provide assistance for the veterans through this event,” said Werdebaugh.

The Morgantown Shootout will begin at 9:00a.m. on April 7 at Defense in Depth, the largest indoor shooting range in the state, located at 1389 Earl L Core Road in Morgantown.

Presenting Sponsors ($5000) will have their logo on the promotional materials, have six teams for the live fire shoot, have six team entries into simulator tournament and have the opportunity for machine gun fire for each member of the six teams.

Gold Sponsor ($2500) will have logo on promotional materials, three full teams for live fire shoot, three team entries in the simulator tournament, and machine gun fire for each member of the three teams.

Silver Sponsors ($1500) will have logo on promotional materials, two full teams fo the live fire shoot, two team entries into the simulator tournament, and machine gun fire for each member of the two teams.

“This is an incredible opportunity to provide resources for veterans while having a one-of-a-kind experience,” Werdebaugh said. Additional information can be found at welcomehomewv.com or by calling 681-212-9264.
