Adulting Class for Teens Slated for December 17 at BHS; Pre-registration Required

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 14, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The changes that have taken place over the last two decades have provided fodder for social media posts. Younger people are made fun of because they don’t know how rotary phones work or they don’t know how to read analog clocks or address envelopes. Older folks are made fun of because they text slowly or don’t trust transportation apps or meal delivery services.  While these topics make for great memes, they highlight the fears of many teens getting ready to transition to adulthood.

On December 17, Bridgeport High School will be hosting an Adulting Class in the BHS Library from 3:30-5:30p.m. to educate students on topics such as budgeting and financial management, study skills and what to expect after high school, how to fill out necessary forms and make appointments, how to navigate relationships and conflict resolution, how to improve mental health and manage time and stress, and other skills necessary for independent living.

The class requires pre-registration and a fee of $10, with all proceeds being donated to BHS DECA to provide financial assistance on costs incurred during competitive events and professional development.  Those interested can contact Trina Runner at trinarunner@gmail.comto register and class size is limited to 30.
