BHS Junior Named Officer in National Organization

By Trina Runner on May 21, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

What more fitting location is there for a historical moment than Mt. Vernon?

Bridgeport High School junior, Carol Maya Wiltshire, traveled to our first President’s home recently in order to be installed as the Office of Mississippi State Society Children of the American Revolution President.

The Children of the American Revolution is the oldest patriotic youth organization in our country.  Membership is available to those who are descendants of patriots of the American Revolutionary War and is based on patriotism and love of country.

The organization teaches etiquette, citizenship and how to follow parliamentary procedures.

Wiltshire first became involved with the Children of the American Revolution while attending meetings with her grandmother.  She has grown up attending annual conferences and has held local and state offices throughout the years, including her new office.

She looks forward to continuing journey by seeking regional and national positions.

“I have made many lifelong friends through this organization,” said Wiltshire.  “I have also learned to appreciate the work of our forefathers and to have a deeper love of country.  The Children of the American Revolution has shaped who I am today."
