Frankie's Furry Friends: "Adoptable Pet of the Day" is Otis

By Frankie Michelle Dennison on August 08, 2019 from Frankie's Furry Friends via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A six-year-old basset/dachshund/beagle mix named Otis doesn’t have a forever home yet. He is looking for someone to love him again. Otis spends much of his days staring through the slats of his kennel hoping that the next person that comes by sees what they are looking for. He does get yard time with his friends and spends time in the front office with the staff’s dog’s, but it doesn’t compare to having a place he can call home and a person(s) he can call his family. He does extremely well with other dogs and doesn’t seem a bit interested in the cats walking around the facility. He seems to love all people (young children?) and would make an excellent family dog.

I think it’s fair to say that Otis does not like being left alone in his kennel. He has literally climbed the 6-foot chain link fence to free himself.

Personally, I don’t blame him as it’s pretty scary back there but that is definitely something to consider when checking this little guy out. A crate would be in order to evaluate his separation anxiety when taking him home. He is available for immediate adoption with an adoption fee of $150 or a five-day Foster Trial which we suggest when considering adding a new dog to your family.

Otis weighs 21 pounds, is up to date on wormer, 5 Way, bordatella, rabies and has already been neutured.

Remember, the shelter is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Even if you are not looking to adopt, stop out and visit with the animals. We have two large cat rooms and the dogs love to go on walks on our 80-plus acres.
