Time Travel: A Look at Still Relatively New School in City from 1912 and Minard's Spaghetti Inn in 1962

By Dick Duez on May 06, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Look familiar? It should as it's what today is Simpson Elementary School, which was orginially built in 1909. This photo was taken in 1912 and the school built three years prior to this photo was on the same site of Bridgeport's first school, called Laurel Hil School and was not a public school. That school was built before the Civil War.
This photo is from 1964 and shows Minard's Spaghetti Inn, which is still going strong decades after this photo was taken. There are definitely a few differences from then to now, although the roadway in question remains the same.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard
"Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
