Time Travel: Compton Park Aerial during Construction and Rewinding to Valley Falls Swimming Days

By Dick Duez on May 20, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

This aerial photo, likely from the 1980s, shows work being done on the expansion of Compton Park, which has been an area for youth and family to enjoy for decades. Note the Presbyterian Church to the left.
At one time, swimming was allowed at Valley Falls State Park in Marion County. Today, and for some time, it's not allowed. Does anyone have any recollection how long it's been since it wasn't allowed? If so, feel free to comment below.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard
"Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
