Time Travel: Going Inside The Handy Shop on Main Street and The Canteen during 1985's Flooding

By Dick Duez on February 11, 2018 from History Blog via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Does anyone remember "The Handy Shop" in Bridgeport? It was a Main Street mainstay for years. Today, Third Millennium Marketing occupies the same space. If you have special memories of this business, please add your comments below.
Back in 1985, no business in the path of the historic flood could remain open - even the legendary business owned by Bridgeport's Ray Blake, "The Canteen." The Milford Street business had to close for multiple days in the wake of the flooding. Today, the building is no longer there and a Dollar General store sits on the location.
