Life of Former BHS Student Noah Gonzalez Ends, Yet Life, Compassion Still Live On

By Julie Perine on July 17, 2017 from It’s Happening via Connect-Bridgeport.com

One week ago today, former Bridgeport High School student Noah Gonzalez had a tragic vehicle accident in Sissonville. Traveling at a high rate of speed, he struck a tree. Multiple first responders worked to free him from his car. He never woke up.

The medical staff at CAMC Hospital in Charleston lowered his body temperature in an attempt to heal the severe head trauma.

On Friday, those medications were stopped and given a chance to leave his system as the family prayed, hoped and waited.

“In true Noah fashion, he is still fighting,” stated the ‘Prayers for Noah ‘Gonzo’ Gonzalez’ Facebook page. “The doctors and staff remain cautiously optimistic, but time is still needed to give the doctors a clear picture.”

On Saturday – after several days of treatment, avid prayers and hopefulness - the family said goodbye to Noah. A post on the Facebook page broke the sad news to friends and supporters. But as would be expected from this family, even this saddest of news was intertwined with hope, love and sacrifice.

Noah Victor Gonzalez was so full of life, the post stated, that he wanted give life after his work on this earth was done. To honor his wishes, CORE took over 18-year-old Noah’s care. Through organ donation, he has the potential to save several other lives.

Close friends of the family who facilitated the Facebook page asked for continued prayers as the CORE team completed its process and the families remain with Noah. They ask that classmates, friends – everyone who knew or didn’t know him - pray for comfort, strength, wisdom and understanding.

Matches have already been found for more than one of his organs. Today, Noah takes his final breaths as he gives life to others.

A celebration of Noah's life will be held in his hometown at Burnside Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Please feel free to share your stories of Noah or this family by commenting on this post, at the “Prayers for Noah ‘Gonzo’ Gonzalez” Facebook page or at the Go Fund Me Page established by close family friends. To date, $1,730 has been raised toward the $10,000 goal to help offset expenses experienced by the family during this tragedy. Noah leaves behind his parents Hilary Blankenship and Danny Gonzalez, older brother Nate Gonzalez and wife, Ashley. You are all in our hearts.
