The market is now in full swing and if you haven’t made it out yet, what are you waiting for? The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity from our first Women’s Day event to our first post from Frugal Foodie Mama (http://www.thefrugalfoodiemama.com/). The POP club is busy every week and my kids particularly liked the garden stones.

There are some exciting things coming up for the next few weeks, so hold on to your hats. Be sure to come out on July 2 to pick up some grass-fed beef or pastured pork for your holiday grilling needs.  Throw some yellow squash and zucchini on the grill and follow it up with some berry cobbler with some local berries and you have a dynamite local foods cook out. Some things you will NOT find at the market on July 2 are sweet corn and watermelon. Quintessential as they are, they are not in season in north central WV in July.

We love our farmers and you love our farmers, so July 9 is our Meet the Farmer day to show our farmers some love. There will be specially printed pamphlets with questions for your farmer and a space for your answers. Have you ever wondered how many acres Green Acres (https://www.facebook.com/greenacresfarmwv) farms? Or what grass fed means? Be sure to stop by your favorite farmer and show them some love!

With summer in full swing, no one wants to hear of snow and cold. But, most everyone loves Christmas! July 16 will be our first Christmas in July event! Colleen Driscoll, author of the Piper the Elf (https://www.facebook.com/Piper-the-Elf-1442469785999109/) serie
s will be under the Book and Bean tent. The Starving Artist (https://www.facebook.com/2StarvingArtists/) will be there for a special kid’s painting day – be sure to check our Facebook page or ask at the market tent how to sign up! The WV DOH will be on hand in one of their snow plows, so be sure to stop by with the kids. Help us out by bringing some canned goods to the market tent and wear your favorite...umm...Christmas sundress!

Under the Book and Bean tent on July 23 is Anna Smucker (http://www.annasmucker.com/), local children’s author. Anna will have books on hand and is a delight to speak with. In case of rain (or snow!) on July 16, the Starving Artist will be there as well.

And as always, each week we are fortunate to hear some amazing musical talent and sample some delicious chef prepared dishes. Our musicians for the upcoming month include The Masons (https://www.facebook.com/themasonsacoustic/), Nat Frederick (https://www.facebook.com/natfrederickmusic/), Annie Neely ()https://www.facebook.com/annieneeleymusic/, Jenny Wilson, and Hilary Kay. Under the chef’s tent are Tim Urbanic from Cafe Cimino (http://www.cafeciminocountryinn.com/), Emily Zimmerman, Geoff Krauss from Thyme Bistro (https://www.facebook.com/ThymeBistro/), and Cody Thrasher from Cody’s (https://www.facebook.com/Codys-1223696047641137/).

And as always, until next week – stay fresh!
