As Winter Approaches, PSC Announces Good News on Utility Bill Front as Gas Rate Decreases Coming

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on August 10, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to MetroNews, the state Public Service Commission announced last week it’s expecting natural gas rates to go down slightly this winter.

The PSC has taken an initial look at the “Purchased Gas Adjustment” cases filed recently by natural gas utilities and the big companies show they’ve spent less on purchasing gas so they are seeking a decrease in the purchase gas portion of their rates.

According to the PSC, Mountaineer Gas is seeking a 3.95 percent decrease, Hope Gas/Dominion Energy a 5 percent decrease, Lumberport/Shinnston Gas a decrease of nearly 6 percent and Peoples Gas a decrease of 4.8 percent.
