Bridgeport High School Alum Scott Simons Releases New Album to National Acclaim

Scott Simons has come a long way since writing jingles for WBOY when he would go to work with his dad, Weatherman Mike Simons.  The BHS alum’s music career has since allowed him to front The Argument band, collaborate with international musicians, and become an internet sensation with his cover of Rhianna’s “Umbrella.”

“I have had the opportunity to work with Drake Bell, Ellen Degeneres, Anderson Cooper, Craig Ferguson, and the Brazilian Nickelodeon Kid’ Choice Awards,” said Simons, who has also appeared on The X Factor and is just starting his fifth season as the pianist on America’s Got Talent.

Although every aspect of his musical journey has been insightful, his recent album release with his TeamMate partner, Dani Buncher, celebrates the long relationship the duo has shared and is aptly named, “Nothing’s Ever Over.”

Romantically involved for years, Buncher and Simons’ relationship evolved into a creative collaboration with unspeakable musical connection that continues today as best friends.  The new album takes listeners on their journey, through breakups, transitions, and extensive tours together.

“We have grown into a stage of life that embraces who we are as musicians, human beings, partners and friends,” said Simons.  “It feels great to be in a place where our music truly reflects who we are and it gives us a clear vision of where we want to be.”

TeamMate has toured with OneRepublic and had their work sampled by Wiz Khalifa.  The diverse musical talent of the duo is evident in the new album’s release, featuring Simons on keyboard, synthesizer and vocals and Buncher on vocals and drums.  Simons’ work both behind the scenes and as a featured artist have made him recognizable internationally and the demand for his music has only increased with each new venture.

“This album has been therapy for both of us,” he said.  “It’s helped carry us through rough patches and grounded us when things feel crazy.  We hope it does the same for the listeners.
