Bridgeport Police assisted the Harrison County Sheriff's Department in a late-Monday afternoon call at South Hills Village, just across Hinkle Lake Road from Deegan Lake.

The call was dispatched, said Bridgeport Deputy Police Chief Mark Rogers, as a domestic incident involving a firearm.

"The person involved in the domestic fled the scene prior to deputy's arrival," he said.

A traffic stop was conducted as law enforcement searched for the individual.

"The suspect was located by Bridgeport officers," Rogers said. "The investigation was then turned over to the sheriff's office for further investigation."

The individual was travelling in a vehicle, which was stopped by police in the parking lot of the Dollar General store, Rogers said.
