Candidates for West Virginia University’s 2017 Homecoming court have been selected.

 

The candidates, five women and two men, will begin campaigning today (Oct. 2). Voting will take place on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at two locations: the Mountainlair and the Student Recreation Center.

 

The entire court will participate in the Homecoming parade, which takes place on High Street, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13.

 

The 2017 Homecoming king and queen will be crowned during a halftime ceremony at the WVU football game against Texas Tech on Saturday, October 14, at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Homecoming queen candidates are:

Morgan Cunningham, a member of the Honors College, is a senior chemical engineering major minoring in business administration from Richmond, Virginia. She serves as the Panhellenic vice president of education and vice president of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Omega Chi Epsilon and Chi Omega Direction of Friendship. Cunningham is the recipient of the WVU Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resource Academic Scholarship. She is sponsored by Chi Omega sorority.

 

Caitlin Daniels, a senior elementary education major with an emphasis in English from Morgantown, is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Order of Omega, and Alpha Omicron Pi, where she has served in several executive positions. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the WVU Marching Band color guard, and Mountaineer Maniacs. She has been on the President’s List and Dean’s List, and is the recipient of the WVU Shenandoah scholarship, WVU Medicine Leadership Scholarship, and the Robert and Eleanor MacCurdy National Scholarship, among others. She is sponsored by the WVU Marching Band.

 

Raphaelle Greco, a senior elementary education major from York, Pennsylvania, has served as the president, philanthropy chairman and community service director of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She also serves as a WVU campus tour leader. Greco has been on the President’s List and Dean’s List, and she is the recipient of the Blue and Gold Academic Scholarship and a four-year recipient of the Scholarship America. She is sponsored by the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

 

Lauren Harvey, a senior strategic communications major with an emphasis in public relations minoring in arts administration and communication studies, is from Mannington. She serves as a student ambassador for the Reed College of Media, the president of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and has been nominated a Miss West Virginia Scholarship Organization contestant. She was named the WVU Panhellenic Woman of the Week, and the recipient of the Wide and Wise Human Service Award, Order of Vandalia Scholarship, and the Jon S. Nelson Creative Writing Award. She is sponsored by Alpha Xi sorority.

 

Jordin Wilcher, a Bridgeport resident, Buckhannon-Upsher High School Alumna, and a senior biochemistry major, currently serves as the vice president of programming for WVU’s Panhellenic Council. She also serves as a biochemistry ambassador for the Davis College, the secretary of Theta Omicron Chapter of Order of Omega, Greek relations chair and public relations chair of Beta Eta Chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon, and executive democratic director of the Student Government Association’s Legislative Affairs. Wilcher also serves as a council member for the Honors Hall, and an ambassador and orientation leader for the Office of Admissions. She is the recipient of the PROMISE Scholarship and the Rhododendron Scholarship. She is sponsored by Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority.

 

Homecoming king candidates are:

 

Charlie Hogeboeck, a senior finance major from Charleston, serves as the vice president of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He also serves as the senior manager for the WVU Women’s Soccer team, and previously served in various executive positions with SGA and the WVU College Republicans. Hogeboeck transferred to WVU from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he received three congressional nominations to the Academy. He is sponsored by Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

 

Nick Sordillo, a member of the Honors College, is a senior forensic and investigative science major from Forest Hill, Maryland. He is a member of the Forensic Science Club, WVU Chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta honorary, and WVU Hillel Jewish Students Association. He is also a peer mentor with the Honors College and social media chair of WVU Hillel. Sordillo was recently selected for a highly competitive internship with the Baltimore County Police Department’s crime laboratory, and student member of the Chesapeake Bay Division of the International Association for Identification. He is sponsored by WVU Hillel.
