DC Man Wanted for Murder Arrested in Morgantown

A Washington DC man wanted for murder was arrested earlier today by US Marshals and Morgantown Police.
 
Demarius Anton Jackson ,24, was arrested without incident on foot near Wall St around 1230PM. Jackson has bas been charged in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia with Second Degree Murder While Armed. The Metropolitan Police Department Investigated the case.
 
Jackson is alleged to have shot Javier Amaya-Olivares on July 8, 2017. Amaya-Olivares died as a result of the shooting. The US Marshals Capital Area Fugitive Task Force began searching for Jackson soon after the shooting. A tip was received by the Task Force which led them to believe Jackson was hiding out in Morgantown. Task Force members traveled to Morgantown early this morning to team up with Deputy US Marshals from Clarksburg and the Morgantown Police Department to locate and arrest Jackson. After conducting surveillance in the area, Jackson was spotted and taken into custody.
 
Jackson was presented before a United States Magistrate in the Northern District of West Virginia and has been ordered to be returned to Washington, DC. Jackson will be held at the Central Regional Jail pending his transfer.
