Do the Right Thing: No School Spirits; Lewis County High School Students Create Video About Kurt Myers in Effort to Prevent Alcohol-Related Deaths

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 29, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Connect-Bridgeport has featured stories over the past few years honoring the memory of Kurt Myers who died September 2012 of alcohol poisoning at age 15. Kurt was a student at Wheeling Park High School, but had many family ties in the Clarksburg area. The students of Lewis County High School, where Kurt's Aunt Pam Heaster teaches, have created this YouTube video in an effort to educate individuals about the Alcohol and Drug Overdose Prevention and Clemency Act; West Virginia legislation passed in 2015 which protects anyone who seeks medical assistance for an individual who has overdosed on drugs or had too much to drink.

Do the right thing: If you are underage, do not drink. If you become aware of someone who has had too much to drink, get him or her medical assistance. It could save a life. Please view the video HERE and share with everyone you know.

On the cover of the video is Kurt's parents Jackie and Wil, his brother Greg and sister Lauren.

Created by Lesley White's mass communications class, the video has been entered into a "No School Spirits" underage drinking prevention public service announcement contest sponsored by State Farm.
