For over two decades, Dominion Energy has sponsored the Dominion Energy Charity Golf Tournament and to-date has donated over $1.5-million to local charities. On Monday, October 15, 2018, Dominion Energy will once again host the annual event at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport. This year’s theme is First on the Scene First on the Green and will feature first responders in the region including the Harrison County Emergency Squad, the American Red Cross, the W.Va. Fire Chiefs Assoc. and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Last year the event raised more than $140,000, and is on track to be our largest tournament yet, projecting to raise $175,000 benefiting several charitable and educational organizations in North Central West Virginia including: Challenged Athletes of W.Va., Health Access, Clarksburg Mission, Our Neighbor, Special Olympics, Susan Dew Hoff Clinic, Union Mission of Fairmont, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and 11 others.

“We are very appreciative of the support Dominion Energy has received over the past 22 years.” stated Bob Orndorff, Dominion Energy’s State Policy Director W.Va. “Nineteen organizations and charities will benefit through the money the event raises. Every dollar goes to charity and the minimum donation to any one group is $2,000.”

Orndorff added, “Over 180 golfers from as far as Texas and Florida will participate in the charity event. Our sponsors support and invest in the natural gas industry in W.Va. and generously join in our efforts to help local nonprofits and this year’s effort to support first responders.”

Special demonstrations will be held throughout the day including a life flight landing at 10 a.m. First responders will be located on putting greens along the course, holding creative challenges for golfers to enhance scores while having some extra fun. Money collected from these special games will go to the first responder organizations to purchase safety equipment. “This is a great way to pay tribute to those that put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe and alive,” Orndorff said.
