Federal Grand Jury Returns Indictment Against Bridgeport Doctor

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 25, 2013 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A Bridgeport doctor arrested July 11 for running an alleged "pill mill" out of her Main Street office was indicted yesterday. On Wednesday, A federal grand jury in Martinsburg charged Fairmont's Dr. Edita Milan with one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

According to the indictment, it states that Milan prescribed the drugs without any legitimate medical reason. On the same day of her arrest, U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II has said Milan was treating more than twice as many patients as she was permitted to treat with narcotics at her practice. According to law, the limit was 30 patients.

Many of the patients, Ihlenfeld said during a press conference at the Birdgeport Municipal Complex, were known prescription drug peddlers.
