Arts and Crafts enthusiasts, wine lovers and those interested in West Virginia and Appalachian culture are invited to attend the fifth annual West Virginia Mountain Heritage & Wine Festival at Stonewall Resort on June 10, resort officials announced.

Samantha Norris, Stonewall State Park Foundation board member and community outreach director for Stonewall Resort, said, “The Mountain Heritage & Wine Festival, presented by EQT, will feature the best of our Appalachian culture – locally-produced artwork and craft goods, food and wine and live music.  The event gets bigger each year and this year we’ll have more artisans than ever before.  And, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.”

The Mountain Heritage & Wine Festival will be held outside near the Roanoke Activity Plaza at Stonewall Resort State Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Guests can leisurely shop the products of more than 50 West Virginia arts and crafts vendors throughout the afternoon and early evening.  Artisanal products for sale include: pottery, stainless steel wall art, jewelry, organic body products, alpaca wool products, wood work, hand blown glass, baked goods, pickles/relishes, jams, beard products, gemstone jewelry, hunting and show knives, honey, leather wares, greeting notecards, kitchen/dining linens, flower planters, art prints, photography, soy candles, rag rugs, kitchen utensils, home décor, children’s hair bows, coffee, upcycled jewelry, hand painted wooden signs, and wooden cutting boards.
In addition, visitors will also be able to sample local wines and enjoy picnic-style food, including Lambert’s Wood-fired Pizza, Stonewall Resort Catering and Old Goat Kettle Korn. Guests will be entertained throughout the day with live bluegrass music from Harmony Creek Junction and the Limited Edition Band.

West Virginia wineries will be on-site offering their best wines for sampling in a specially designated and controlled wine garden area. Participating wineries include: Lambert’s Vintage Wines, Batton Hollow Winery, Heston Farm Winery, Cascarelli’s Old Country Wine, WineTree Vineyards, West White Hill Winery and Chestnut Ridge Wines. There is a $10 entry fee to the wine garden for adults 21 and older, which entitles guests to wine sampling, a souvenir wine glass and corkscrew.

Norris said there will be plenty of activities for kids, to include gemstone mining, balloon animals, face painting and henna tattoos.
The Festival is being sponsored by EQT and hosted by the Stonewall State Park Foundation, Stonewall Resort and Lambert’s Vintage Wine.

While not a part of the event, the resort offers canoes, paddleboards and kayaks for rent, which offer a great way to explore the lake or to do some fishing.  Also, the Palmer Signature Golf Course, ranked as one of the best golf courses in the country, has tee times available; however, guests should call in advance to make reservations.

There is a $5 per car fee to enter the State Park property on Saturday, June 10.  For additional information or reservations, contact Stonewall Resort at (304) 269-7400 or visit the website at www.StonewallResort.com.

“Come experience the best of Appalachian arts, crafts and wine at the Mountain Heritage & Wine Festival on June 11h at Stonewall Resort,” Norris concluded.
