Flood Watch in Effect for Harrison, Other West Virginia Counties, Through Friday Afternoon

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 17, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has also posted a hazardous weather outlook for counties including Harrison.

Several West Virginia counties, including Harrison County, are under a flood watch through Friday evening. A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

Periods of rain will continue across the area through Friday. Some of this rain could be heavy at times. Overall rainfall amounts of two to four inches are possible. This rain coupled with wet soil across the area could cause flooding of small streams and creeks, low spots and poor drainage areas.

Possible impacts are flooded roads and mudslides.

See the list of counties under the flood watch HERE at the National Weather Service. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
