Former Business CEO and President, WWII Veteran, Civic Leader Joe Aucremanne Passes Away at 92

Joseph “Joe” Francis Aucremanne, 92, Bridgeport WV, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home after a brave fight against multiple myeloma. He was born March 4, 1926, Clarksburg WV, the youngest child of Fernand Francois (Frank) and Marie Camelia Castiaux Aucremanne. 
 
Joe lived in Clarksburg, WV for 70 years and in Marathon FL for the past 27 years. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, attended Xavier University, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 1951. He continued his engineering education at the University of Cincinnati, West Virginia University and Fairmont University. 
 
Joe Aucremanne and Marie Troy Quinlivan were married April 30, 1951, in Wilmington, NC, and celebrated 58 years of marriage together. Marie Aucremanne passed away December 10, 2009. He attended All Saints Church, Bridgeport, WV and was a member of San Pablo Church, Marathon, FL. Joe was a faithful member of the Florida Rosary Group, an Epistle reader, and an altar server until he was 89.
 
During World War II, Joe Aucremanne served in the U.S. Navy as a Signalman onboard the U.S.S. L.S.T.-1141, sailing from San Pedro CA to Pearl Harbor, Guam, Saipan, Tokyo, and then returning to San Francisco. Joe and his four brothers were in the Pacific Theatre together, occasionally finding each other during leave. 
 
Joe Aucremanne worked at Eagle Convex Glass Company for over 40 years, advancing to President and CEO. He helped develop techniques in decorating & etching glass, and patents to improve tempering vertical glass. Joe Aucremanne was active in the Knights of Columbus, Serra Club, Rotary Club, the Clarksburg Y. M. C. A., and Boy Scouts of America. As a Rotarian, Joe received the Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Award and hosted several Rotary International Exchange Students. Joe was active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years, first a leader for Troop 14, next serving on the Central WV BSA Council committee, and then on the BSA National Jamboree Aquatics Sports Staff. Joe earned the Wood Badge, and received the lifetime achievement Silver Beaver Award. He was a Power Squadron Boating Safety Instructor. His love of boating included a trip down the Intercoastal Waterway from Norfolk, VA to Jacksonville, FL, and later a trip from Fairmont, WV on the Monongahela River, down the Ohio and Lower Mississippi Rivers to Florida’s west coast. 
 
Joe is survived by his six children: Joseph F. II, Johanna Aucremanne Stoneking (Robert), Daniel Q. (Vicki), Fernand Francois II (JoAnne), Julia A. Aucremanne (R. Joel), Charles A, by ten grandchildren, Joseph Ross Aucremanne, Christopher E. Gibat (Jessica), Brendan Leon Gibat (Maggie), Sean F. Gibat, Natale M. A. Clark (Elliot Blumberg), Joel Alexander A. Clark, Liam F. Aucremanne, Kelly M. Aucremanne, Patrick C. Aucremanne, Bridget M. Aucremanne, one great-grandchild, Godric D. Gibat, 14 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. 
 
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Fernand François and Marie Camilia Castiaux Aucremanne, his wife Marie Troy Quinlivan Aucremanne, his one sister Beatrice (Sister Marie Camille), and four brothers Fernand, Albert, Camille, and Marcel.
