Former Harrison County Teacher, Church and Leader on Civic Front, Marjorie Faris, Passes Away at 90

Marjorie Symons Allen Faris, 90 of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Elmcroft of Maplewood.
 
She was born November 22, 1928, in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late David K and Esther Symons Allen. She is survived by her children, David Faris and wife Tammera, Bridgeport, Anne Faris Bartlett and Troy, Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, John William Cienawski and wife Alicia, Bridgeport, David "Scott" Faris, Los Angeles, CA, Tyler Ross Faris, Jacksonville, Fl, Amanda Faris Wallace and husband Alex, Bridgeport, Robert "Michael" Sabatino, Portland, OR, Joshua Staats Sabatino, Portland, OR, Justin and Katy Bartlett, Nutter Fort; seven great grandchildren, Paxton, Gabe, Ella, Silas, Poppy, Jayln and Renly; sister-in-law, Priscilla Allen, Tingley Lake, PA; several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Davidson Faris Jr. on February 19, 2017; one son, Mark Gordon Faris; one brother, Rev. Mark Allen.  Marjorie graduated from Fairmont Senior High School and went on to get her Bachelors from Miami of Ohio.
 
She was a teacher in Harrison County and Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church for over fifty years where she enjoyed teaching the English Hand Bell Choir.
 
She and her husband were world travelers and covered six of the seven continents. Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she and her husband were very active over the years. She was also a member of the Clarksburg League of Service and Clarksburg Garden Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
 
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 12:00Noon at the Bridgeport Cemetery with Reverend John F Koerner officiating. Family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 3:00PM until time of Memorial Service at 4:00PM with Reverend John F Koerner officiating.
