Homecoming celebrations are festivities that the community cherishes, holding events that the youth will remember for the rest of their lives. There are so many special intricacies involved as Bridgeport continues to go above and beyond in making sure fun, interactive activities are there for all those who want to have a good time.

The action kicks in high gear starting today, as weeks of hard work making elaborate signs and decorations for the Bridgeport High School Gymnasium, where the big assembly will take place Thursday morning.

“I am leading the homecoming assembly committee, and have been helping out with several other components of the homecoming events. I must admit that I am fairly anxious about the assembly because I really have high hopes that everything goes well, but I also am so very excited. I think we have a lot of activities planned that the crowd will really like. We have brought some of people’s favorite board games to life for the student body to take part in during the assembly, which will be really cool to see,” said senior student council member Raeanne Beckner.

Soon, Bridgeport will begin to decorate the hallways, boosting the spirit of the school,

“It was really interesting to see everyone’s ideas come together, and it was rewarding to see our work pay off in the end, “said sophomore student council member, Mia George.

Mark your calendars, the parade will be starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, as the marching band is ready to lead in the show with a plethora of great tunes.

“I enjoy being in the homecoming parade because it’s one of the highlights of homecoming where the entire community comes out to watch. When I am marching down the street it feels exhilarating, and I get goosebumps because the parade is always such a huge deal for our town,” said senior frontline student, Emilee Pugh.

There are many nifty ideas to celebrate before the big game against Bridgeport’s rival, Robert C. Byrd High School.

“I have been keeping an eye on all of the committees, making sure planning gets done on time and that everybody is getting the help they need to make this all possible. This year’s student council is really awesome, and all general members have been coming up with a lot of fun ideas. I am so excited to see how cool all of the decorations are going to look. Right now, everybody is working hard, and it looks like everything is going to come together and be great,” said student body president, Kirstin George.

The community seems to have a big couple a weeks ahead of us, full of culture, memories, and celebration.
