Bridgeport High School Students of the Month for October are Kirstin George and Vincent Pinti.

Kirstin George is the daughter of Christopher and Alicia Georga and the sister of Mia and William. She was elected and currently serves as student body president at BHS. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected as 2018 Homecoming maid of honor.

Kirstin is a four-year starter and three-year captain on the Lady Indians varsity soccer team and has received All-County, All-Region, All-Conference and All-State honors. She has been on the varsity track team since her freshman year and is a member of the 2016 and 2018 state championship winning teams. She has been part of three state championship winning relays and is a member of the relay team which currently holds the 4X400 meter state record. She is also a member of the BHS swim team.

She enjoys and is active in Young Life as well as the youth group at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she participates as a lector and Sunday School teacher. She plans to attend college in the fall and study engineering.

Vincent Pinti is the son of Donna Booth and Jon Pinti. He writes a blog for Connect-Bridgeport, called Vincent’s Views. He has been recognized by the WVU School of Journalism and Media for feature writing. He is a member of Quiz Bowl, History Bowl, Science Bowl, Thespians, National Honor Society, Inspire USA and Key Club. He is captain of the A Team for the quiz and history bowl. With this group, he was previously a two-time winner of the WV Geography Olympiad. He is a WV Voice of Democracy winner, Knight of the Golden Horseshoe, Envision Leader and a Frank Taylor Jr. Award Recipient at WV Boys State. Vincent is also an AP Merit Scholar with Distinction, scoring a 4 or higher on 6 or more Advanced Placement Exams through the College Board Program. He has been active in the BHS Theater all four years, involved in three of the four state winning Thespian One Acts from BHS and has traveled to the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. Also, Vincent has placed in a most outstanding scene at the State Thespian Festival last year and was a part of the all-festival cast. Two years ago, he achieved most outstanding monologue at the State Thespian Festival and carried that performance to an honorary debut at “WV Arts Alive!”
Vincent has always had a knack for public speaking and plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall to study political science and go on to law school. He has high hopes of being an advocate for American with Disabilities. This is largely a result of being diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type II, a neuromuscular disease that he has been living with since birth. He has been heavily involved with the CureSMA Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, including fundraisers sponsored by DECA two years ago.

BHS Principal Matt DeMotto said Students of the Month are selected by the BHS staff. Members are asked to consider character, respect, behavior, academics, effort, attendance, extra-curriculars, leadership and trustworthiness when selecting students. It is an honor and a challenge, DeMotto said, because there are so many deserving BHS students.
