Nighttime Road Closure Slated for Downtown Salem Exit on Route 50; North, Southbound Lanes Impacted

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 09, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

FROM THE WEST VIRGINIA DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS

The West Virginia Division of Highways advises motorists that there will be a road closure/traffic delay on U.S. 50 Eastbound & Westbound at the Downtown Salem Exit on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019. The road closure and restrictions will only be from 8 p.m. through 6 a.m.  There will be no daytime restrictions.

The purpose for the closure/delay is to set several bridge girders of the new structure in both directions of U.S. 50 each night.  The Westbound Downtown Salem Exit will be closed due to the crane location.  All super loads/wide loads will not be permitted to utilize the West Main Street or the Downtown Salem Exit to detour through the City of Salem due to clearance restrictions.  Occasional rolling road blocks will be used to slow traffic during the installation of the girders.  Alternate routes will be the West Main Street Exit (County Route 50/28), Jacobs Run Road (County Route 50/73) and Dog Run Road (County Route 50/1).

Expect Delays.  Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute.  Please note that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
