One of Region's Iconic Restaurants Opens First-Ever Satellite Location and Dishing out Food at White Oaks

By Jeff Toquinto on November 09, 2019

It’s been a little more than a week since one of the region’s most iconic and long-standing restaurants opened a second location. Since then, the general manager of the new Minard’s Spaghetti Express situated at White Oaks has said things couldn’t be going any better.

“I was confident this was going to work based on our product and based on the clientele we knew that was located in White Oaks alone,” said GM Heather Gillespie. “Since we opened our doors, it’s been busy. The only real down time we have is between 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., but other than that we’re busy.”

Minard’s Spaghetti Express is the first satellite location of the extremely popular Minard’s Spaghetti Inn located in Clarksburg. It’s been doing business, and doing it well, for 82 years.

The new location is in White Oaks in Retail Village Building 1, which is where Cody’s Restaurant, Bonnie Belle’s and several other businesses are situated. The space was previously occupied by Hermosilla’s Deli.

The concept of the new business is different from that of the original location in Clarksburg. The difference is what led to the “express” portion of the name.

Everyone will order their food “to go,” but the with the option of taking it with you or sitting down and dining in. There is seating inside for 36 and whether you eat in or take it out you will be served in a to-go container. Gillespie said more people tend to stay and eat after hours as opposed to during lunch time.

The restaurant does not have the full menu offered at their historic location in Clarksburg. They will have pastas including rigatoni, lasagna, soups salads that included grilled chicken and steak as well as others, hoagies, the Giovanni sandwich and more. One of those items is an Italian sub only offered in Bridgeport, along with plenty of desserts.

There are also daily specials. They will typically consist of a menu item that is available only in Clarksburg daily.

The business runs two shifts. Each shift employs 12 to 15 individuals. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed Sunday.

The address is 20 Shaner Drive, Bridgeport. The phone number is 304-848-9850. The official first day of business was Oct. 28.

Editor's Note: Top and bottom photos show food being prepared in Bridgeport, while a classic pasta dish is shown in the middle.
