ORIGINAL: Bridgeport Police are still searching for a man that led them and other law enforcement on a high speed chase estimated to be close to 100 miles per hour on his motorcycle through the city’s downtown Monday, according to Lt. M.J. Lemley.
“We don’t have an actual speed, but it’s safe to say that the motorcycle, particularly when heading down Bridgeport Hill (on U.S. Route 50) was well in excess of 90 miles per hour,” said Lemley.
On Tuesday, Bridgeport Police issued the arrest warrant for Joseph Michael Moore. Moore is a 30-year-old Bridgeport resident.
Law enforcement began the search for Moore immediately after his wrecked bike was found at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Route 76 shortly after 2 p.m. Monday following a chase that began near Classic Car Stereo and headed east through Bridgeport.
After the wreck, Moore headed into the wooded area surrounding that intersection. Police have been unable to locate him since.
“We’ve been checking his known areas here in Bridgeport,” said Lemley. “We’ve also sent a copy of his warrant to Taylor County.”
Right now, police believe Moore is located in either Harrison or Taylor counties. Lemley believe these are the areas where Moore will eventually be located.
The warrant that was issued is for fleeing. Lemley said it is a felony warrant.
“If anyone knows where he is they need to call us at the police department,” said Lemley. “We do not consider him dangerous.”
If anyone has any information on Moore, Lemley asks you call 911 or contact the Police Department. The city police can be reached at 304-842-8260.
“There are no other warrants on him as far as I’m aware of, but our staff has been aware of him in the past,” said Lemley.
