Dr. Robert Boatman Davis of Clarksburg passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born August 22, 1933, in Clarksburg to Robert H. and Celia Ward Davis.

 

He graduated from Washington Irving High School, West Virginia University and The University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry.

 

He joined his father’s dental practice in 1955 as the third generation and retired in 2014.

 

Dr. Davis was active in several organizations during his lifetime. He was involved in the Boy Scouts as a young man and was an Eagle Scout. He was president of the Central WV Boy Scout Council in the 1980s and president of the Harrison County Hospice at its inception. He also was president of the Harrison County Historical Society and served in various capacities at his church, First Presbyterian of Clarksburg.

 

He was an avid gardener and had a lovely English garden. He loved antiques and had an antique business for many years.

 

Dr. Davis is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Anne Byrnside Davis; and six children: Becky Swartz and David of Charlotte, NC, Robert H Davis and Tammy of Clarksburg, Dr. John B. Davis and Leanna of Clarksburg, Jessica B. Davis and Harold of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Paul F Davis and Laura of Shepherdstown, WV, and Anne Katherine Hook and John of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, Kierstin Davis, Emily and William Hook; one sister, Sydney Davis Vanderkraats; and one sister-in-law, Jane Anderson of Palm Springs, CA.

 

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dr. Davis will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg, with Rev John Koerner officiating.
