An accident that involved a pair of vehicles along what is becoming a troublesome spot of U.S. Route 50 left two cars disabled, but Bridgeport Fire Department personnel said no one seriously injured.
Although the Bridgeport Police Department is still investigating, a call just before noon – 11:57 a.m. – saw local emergency responders head to the intersection of Route 50 and the exit to the Main Street McDonald’s. Earlier this year, a fatality resulted in a vehicle-motorcycle accident at the very same location.
This time, a maroon Chevrolet Blazer and a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck collided at roughly the same location. According to more than one witness, the Blazer was traveling down U.S. Route 50 East when the collision occurred with the Silverado departing McDonald’s. Details on what happened are unknown due to the matter still being under investigation.
Several young drivers were inside the blazer. However, a member of that family confirmed that all of those individuals were okay. They were in the back of the Bridgeport ambulance being checked over. Bridgeport Fire personnel also confirmed that there were no emergency medical transports.
Despite the lack of serious injuries, both vehicles were seriously damaged. Wreckers were arriving on the scene by 12:20 p.m. to clear both from the roadway. Bridgeport Police were also taking statements from multiple witnesses.
Traffic was being delayed, but not completely shut down, to handle the accident. Lt. J. Post was making sure traffic was moving as fast as it could in a safe manner during one of the busiest times of the day on that stretch of road.

To many accidents in that area..?? could it be that merging lane...some slowing down to get into McD's, etc. and others speeding around to pass.. When you think you have a clear lane.. see photos above...
Time to design a new traffic pattern in that area....close that lane down and open up something going the other way into Emily drive...
keep your eyes on the road and not your French Fries...
