By Julie Perine on March 01, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Northbound and southbound traffic on Interstate 79 was backed up this afternoon just north of Bridgeport after two separate incidents occurred at the 126 mile marker, just north of the Saltwell exit.

At 12:33 p.m., first responders were dispatched to a working truck fire at the 126 mile marker, southbound. Roughly 40 minutes later, a two-vehicle accident took place at the same general location in the northbound lanes. Involved in that accident were a Dodge Dart and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

Bridgeport Fire and Emergency were dispatched to the scene, but made no hospital transports. Both incidents are under investigation by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. More details will be released as they become available.
