Although just inside the City limits of Clarksburg, the Bridgeport Fire Department and EMS was joined by the Bridgeport Police Department in assisting their Clarksburg counterparts to handle a wreck involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 79.
Bridgeport Fire Chief Phil Hart said the tractor trailer rolled onto its side. The vehicle, he said, was hauling sand, which spilled onto the interstate.

Due to the wreck and the debris, traffic was an issue in the northbound lane of I-79. The accident occurred near mile marker 121 and the call went out for a vehicle injury with entrapment at 1:58 p.m. The area in question is where you can see Jenkins Subaru-Hyundai from the roadway.

“Bridgeport Fire transported the driver of the truck to United Hospital Center for treatment,” said Hart.

No other individuals, or vehicles were involved in the accident. The cause of the wreck wasn’t immediately known.

Lanes will be closed until the sand can be removed, officials said. The Clarksburg Police Department is handling the investigation.
