West Virginia Wesleyan College’s School of Business is proud to announce a collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) for undergrad and graduate students interested in the field of marketing. The WVWC AMA Chapter is one of only two official West Virginia collegiate chapters of the prestigious, internationally recognized marketing organization.

The WVWC chapter plans to provide real-world experience for its members as well as contemporary knowledge on the theories and practices in the marketing field. The chapter will work with local businesses on marketing projects, such as developing marketing plans, designing advertising, social media, and conducting marketing research.

During the organizational planning process, the following individuals were elected as the first officers: Nina Flores of Charleston, WV presides as the president of the chapter; Dakota Bull of Clarksburg, WV is vice-president; the treasurer is Katie Wellman from Williamson, WV; and, Anna Bennett of Berlin, PA serves as the Secretary.  The WVWC AMA Chapter started with 13 founding members.

Marketing visionaries established the American Marketing Association (AMA) in 1937. AMA has grown to be one of the largest marketing associations in the world with over 30,000 professional members who practice, teach, or study marketing all across the globe, and over 340 collegiate chapters with over 11,000 student members.  In 2015, the AMA developed their current initiative made of four transformational strategies that include a commitment to service leadership; providing a proactive, differentiated and modern voice; establishing an intellectual agenda; and, building a personalized and connected marketplace of knowledge.
