Christmas has arrived at the library this week with two beautiful Christmas trees provided by the Woman’s Club of Bridgeport, and the festive sounds of the Bridgeport High School Orchestra, Show Choir and Jazz Band performing Tuesday through Thursday evenings.  Check our webpage for the exact schedule.

          

Our Open House to celebrate the completion of the renovation project is scheduled on Thursday, December 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the Bridgeport High School Jazz Band performing their annual concert at 6 p.m.  Refreshments are provided by the Woman’s Club.  So, please stop and wander through the library and notice the bright lights and colorful flooring.

           

Some facts about the renovation project.  There will be 225 new LED light fixtures.  The old lights used an estimated 38,250 watts while our new lighting will only use an estimated 11,043 watts affording an expected 71% decrease in energy consumption.  New pendant light fixtures are directly overhead designated reading areas and public work tables are lit with other task lighting fixtures.  The new lighting in the stacks is designed to spread light equally across the face of the shelves.

           

There is 12,254 sq. ft. of new flooring.  The new flooring’s slip resistance exceeds ADA compliance.  It has a 15-year commercial warranty and is comprised of 60.8% total recycled content. 

           

New ceiling tiles are anti-mold and mildew and are made from recycled materials.  They have an 83% light reflectance and a high-performance sound blocking rating.

           

The theater system is comprised of a full HD 3D projector paired with a high contrast projection screen.  The system will operate on its own theater network supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4K media streaming.  Theater sound will be provided by an 8 speaker 7.2 channel sound system with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
