Off the Shelf: Plenty of Stuff on Tap for Kids with Plenty of Programs in October at Bridgeport Library

By Sharon Saye on October 02, 2019 from Off the Shelf

Last week’s column was all about programs for adults, but children can enjoy the library’s programming throughout October as well.  Story Time is scheduled every Friday at 10:30 a.m.; it is an early literacy program for children under the age of three.

The Mountaineer Therapy Dogs will be present on Saturday, October 5 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

The dogs are eager to have children read stories aloud to them.  All children are invited to participate, but please register first.

Wiggly Wednesdays is a story time that incorporates creative movement activities.  It welcomes participants ages 4- 8 and is scheduled on Wednesday, October 9th and 23rd at 3 p.m.

Pizza and Pages is a monthly book club for children between the ages of 8 and 12.  Children interested in the program are invited to read the book in time for the discussion.  A limited number of copies of the books are available.  Please ask Amy at the library to borrow a copy of “The Aviary.”  October 10th at 6 p.m. is the date.

The West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center will educate participants on the importance of raptors, their environment, and their work at the raptor center.  This program is for members of all ages.  Registration is required.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 12th at 2 p.m.
Family movie night is the classic, “Hocus Pocus,” on October 14th at 6 p.m.  This program is for ages 4 to 12.  Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Spooky Story Walk takes place on Thursday, October 17th at 6 p.m.  Participants will meet at the Bridgeport City Park to explore the spooky park and read “Halloween Night.”  Please come dressed in your Halloween costume.  Registration is required.  This event is for children between the ages of 4 and 12.

Kids’ Movie will be showing “Toy Story 4” on Friday, October 18th at 6 p.m.  This concluding movie of the favorite series is for children between the ages of four and twelve.  Registration is required.  Pizza and refreshments will be provided.  Just a reminder, but the book sale continues until October 5th during the libraries regular hours.
