Off the Shelf: Selections for Library's Fall Book Sale Expected to be Great and New Strategy to be in Play

By Sharon Saye on September 18, 2019 from Off the Shelf via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The library’s annual fall Book Sale is scheduled for the week of September 30th through October 5th.  The hours run from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until 4:30 p.m.

The library has been busy withdrawing books over the past year particularly nonfiction, so the selection is going to be great.  We will accept donations but are limiting them to one box or one bag at a time.  Our space is already stacked high with boxes.

Our goal is to clear out these stacks of boxes, so we are changing out pricing strategy for this book sale.  There will be a $1.00 entry fee, and you can take as many books as you want.

Besides nonfiction, there are stacks of fiction and children’s books as well as some DVDs, music CDs and puzzles.  If you are a music lover, there are quite a lot of songbooks, and if you like big hefty books on animals, space, cooking, and crafts, be prepared to find a lot of possibilities.

Programs continue through the rest of September including the “After Hours Glow in the Dark Nerf Battle” on Thursday, September 19th at 8 p.m.  Participants must be registered by September 18th.  Registered participants will use their skills to evade capture at this lights-out nerf battle.  This program is for children between the ages of 10 and 18.

The mystery book group, Read in Red, will be discussing Lisa Jewell’s book, “Then She Was Gone” on Friday, September 27th at noon.  To borrow a copy please see Tyler.  And our new book group, Real Reads is going to discuss the best-seller, “Hillbilly Elegy” by J.D. Vance on Monday, September 30th at 6 p.m.
