Date Set, Field Expected to Fill up Fast as Organizers Announce Jamison-Reppert Golf Tournament Plans

It’s well past two decades old and it’s become a mainstay of the summer. And to perhaps no one’s surprise, it’s returning for what an organizer said is its 22nd year.

Organizers have announced the date and other information for the annual Jamison-Reppert Golf Tournament once again being held at the Bridgeport Country Club.

The Annual Jamison-Reppert Golf Tournament will be held June 13, according to “Voice of the Indians” and one of the event organizers Travis Jones. The primary goal is to raise funds for a pair of scholarships in the name of Wayne Jamison and Mary A. Reppert for $1,500 each to a graduating Indians football player.

The tournament honors the memory and accomplishments of Reppert and the accomplishments of Jamison. Reppert was a long-time supporter of the Indians football program and her presence on the sidelines was almost as prevalent as Jamison’s. She taught science and biology and then substituted at the high school for almost three decades. Reppert passed away in 1998.

Jamison was the long-time coach of the Indians who not only won four state titles in 1972, 1979, 1986 and 1988, but did so by winning the first two by playing up a class to bring home the school’s only two Class AAA football titles. Jamison was an educator and coach for 40 years. He passed away in February of last year at the age of 87.

“The reason we’ve seen so much success for so long is that the tournament is more than about golf, starting with honoring the memory of Mrs. Reppert and Coach Jamison,” said Jones. “It’s also a social opportunity.

“Most if not all of the coaching staff plays in the tournament,” he continued. “Supporters and friends of the program can have a fun day on the links, but they can also bend the ear of the staff to get a preview of the upcoming season.”

The event will begin with registration starting at 11:30 a.m. The 18-hole tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. There will also be cash prizes and skill prizes during the tournament.

As always, there will be plenty of other activities. Jones said there will once again be a silent auction featuring plenty of high quality BHS apparel and several unique items yet to be determined. Last year, a Coach John Cole bobblehead doll was part of the auction.

“There’s always a surprise or two with the auction and I anticipate that being the case again this year,” said Jones.

The event will conclude with another popular feature. A steak dinner will be held at the BCC with food provided by Young & Stout.

The cost to participate is $400 for a foursome. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100.

“We have a hard limit of 23 foursomes this year and with very few exceptions we’ve been sold out every year,” said Jones. “If you’re looking to take part I wouldn’t wait long to register.”
