The winner of Bridgeport High School’s “Scout Team Player of the Week” for his effort in the week leading up to last week’s high school football game with North Marion is junior Michah Swann. Swann played his part in helping the Indians have another huge outing, this time against the Huskies in what turned out to be a 40-22 win.

Swann, who comes in a 5’11 and 245 pounds, was chosen by the BHS coaching staff for the weekly honor. The honor is in its first year.

“He’s a quiet kid who always brings his lunch pail to practice. Micah is a blue collar player that understands the game well,” said BHS Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator Adam King. “He’s very strong and knows how to play with leverage.”

Swann worked on the scout team’s offense and defensive line leading up to the game with North Marion. Apparently, his efforts helped.

The BHS offense scored 40 points in jumping to a 40-0 lead. And the defense held the Huskies scoreless until Coach John Cole began making substitutions early in the third period.

“Micah has earned some situational time in the varsity games on Friday nights,” said Cole.

The BHS coaching staff initiated the program this year to recognize those who help prepare the varsity each week. The winner is chosen based on a vote of the coaches.
